How To Choose Your MLM Company for Your Internet Marketing Business

And how I choose my main partner company to grow my business MY WAY:

Many of my team members came to online marketing the same way I did, following the principles tough by Robert Kiyosaki , in his well-know and “must-read” book for Entrepreneurs: “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” .
Like I did, they did their work: surfing the web to find information about the Company that would fit the best the criteria that they needed to fill. And like mine, those main criteria were essential to be studied and evaluated before they could make their decision.

As this article retains your attention, surely you are well aware that there are hundreds of different network marketing companies out there with representatives who claim to have the best compensation plan, full-proof marketing strategies, best complete training and a way to make you money fast. Unfortunately, several companies and online marketers don’t follow through on those yummy promises!

I’ve heard too many stories of new marketers who don’t get appropriate training, don’t have a support group to help guide them , and they haven’t made a single commission after weeks and months since starting their business.

in my OfficeWith lil'stern

When I first thought about joining a primary business, I missed to take time and evaluate the situation completely. Always weigh the pros and cons before signing up. As many new marketers I first followed a leader that I found very brilliant, and he was, but I didn’t study enough the product neither the system of the company. I’m glad thou I did make that quickly after my opt-in , so I stopped to commit to something that was not my passion, neither my heart-following.
Others are quick to opt-in to a primary business because they believe they can make money, because they see their sponsor is doing it….

Be aware that your success depends on you and your abilities, and your mindset.
Of course you want to follow in the footsteps of a successful leader, but if you aren’t willing to work just as hard, if not harder than your sponsor, you won’t succeed.

Choosing a business online is about YOU:
What you are, like, think, what you know and how you feel.

I came up for my definitive and adequate choice of my company, for my primary business, with a list of questions below :

That list I wish, will be your guideline for make your decision, to pick your “primary” , without relying on others’ actions or thoughts or judgments.

1. What do I know about the company?

How long have they existed?
Who are the founders and managers, what do I know about them ? (google them)
What is the mission of the company?
What their compensation plan is, how does it work ?
Does it sounds like a pyramid scheme?
What are reviews saying about this company? (google them)
Is the company legitimate? ( consult www.MLMwatchdog.com, subscribe to their free news)

2. What do I want with/about the products/services of the company?

Have I ever used their products or services? Why or why not?
Would I sell them to my grand-mother with pride?
What is the ” auto-ship-monthly”, which cost, will I use it or storage it in my garage month after month?
Is this a company that I would use if I wasn’t a representative?
Are their products/services a reflection of my personality , beliefs, and values?
What is my market for those products/services?

3. How am I going to market My Business with This Company?
What do I know about marketing a business?
How do I want to position myself with this company in my business?
Does this company allow online marketing?
Am I willing to take this for a long term venture , and invest my time and money into building this business?
Will this interfere ,or help with any of my other business ventures? (How?)
Am I willing to educate myself and endure extensive marketing training?
Who will I look to for marketing advice and guidance? ( you can see all what I have been looking for this matter, surfing the pages of this blog, and ask me all the questions that you come up with).

4. Does this company reach MY personal criteria ( which are not may be yours, but that can be inspiring to look at yours again) ?
Can I do my marketing mainly online, and eventually , only online? ( I live in different places of the world, and travel, so my local networking is limited)
Is the monthly auto-ship really part of my advantages? (in my case, I have no auto-ship with my company, so no problem to travel, no cost, and the monthly cost for sites maintenance is waived with 4 active people in my underline which is infinite….)

Le Diamant, my favorite cruise ship so far

Le Diamant, my favorite cruise ship so far

Do I like the people in my team, my sponsor, and their up-line? Do they have the mindset that I want people who I work with to cultivate? ( yes for me, and the support and mentoring is over expectations to me! ).

5. Isn’t that enough? there is no 5 :-) .

You please let me know your thoughts, questions, comments here! and NOW : by clicking the “comment” at the bottom of the text, last word after the “tags”.

Also, you can tell that I am promoting here my company, as I love it, and I consider it as a gift to you, to make you read the information about it, as it’s been a gift to me since I joined it. You can study it here:

How to Make Change in Your Life

When it comes to make a change in your life, there is a saying that rings so true to any sensitive brain: “What Ever You Focus On – You Will Attract In Your Life”.

This is the introduction to an e-mail that a member of my business and mastermind team is sending to his patients-customers. I found it so true and simple and valuable that I want to share it here with you: thank you to Dr. Kyle Gilmour.

Whether physical, emotional, professional or personal – focus is a key part of state management. (Simply said, state management controls how we perceive and react to any situation).

In order to change focus and manage your state, there must be daily rituals.

Here are 4 of my TOP FAVORITE RITUALS that have helped transform my life, starting with my day:

1.  Exercise. Everybody knows that exercise stimulates the release of “feel good” chemicals such as endorphins. Exercise relaxes the body and reduces stress allowing you to clearly focus on that which you want to achieve.

2.  Nutrition. Start the day off with a  protein shake after your workout, a fish oil supplement and a healthy breakfast which includes fruits, fresh juices and fiber.

3. Threshold Rules. I learned from Tony Robbins years ago – you must create a “personal code of conduct” or” guidelines” on how you would want conduct your life. These threshold rules allow me to avoid vices and focus on my virtues. These would include guidelines on nutrition, exercise, drinking habits, personal development, family time vs. work balance etc.

4.  Positive Mindset. I start every day with 10-15 minutes of morning meditation – to manifest that which I want in my day. Never allow anything negative – such as news, people, or events to influence your emotional state. I’m a firm believer that “he who controls his emotional state over people and events…WINS”.

To this 4 advices, here is a reply by another team member of our mastermind:

Marc Drizin:
Kyle, my friend, mentor, and fellow author Matthew Kelly talks about the need to balance four things to achieve The Rhythm of Life. I’ve switched the order, and use the acronym PIES: Physical, Intellectual, Emotional, and Spiritual. Matthew talks about the “classroom of silence”, I create that classroom by walking my dog(s) first thing in the morning (usually at 6 am), or as I did this morning, exercising. This takes care of my spiritual balance, and handles most of the physical as well. Intellectual I get from my Plan A work, like the workshop I just gave to 250 folks here in Indiana, and surprisingly for me, one of the hidden benefits of WV and this team. Emotional balance is discovered as we come to grips with our past, while living in the present and dreaming about the future. I love yours, and would like to use them in future workshops and speeches…

You can see here not only good information, but also an example of the chats that our team has daily on Skype with this “Global Game Changer Mastermind ” whose leader is Eric Allen.

7 Reasons NOT to Have a J.O.B./Part 2

Reason #4

PANTYHOSE

As I write this, I’m working.

I’m wearing a tank top and shorts. I’ve got my feet propped up on the deck railing as birds sing at the feeder.

When I had a J.O.B., there was a dress code. And rules about what you could have on your desk. There was limited time for lunch, and no time for creativity. And don’t even get me started on pantyhose! Those high heels I wore were a killer by the end of the day too!!

What would you do with a million dollars?

#5 Reason

Your Money doesn’t go as far when you are an employee as almost half your salary will go to taxes.
You get to spend what’s left on living expenses. One of my first self-employed discoveries was that my money went MUCH further- investing in myself or supplies for my business. Owning your own business…helping your dollars expand…It’s a Good Thing!

Reason #6

Focusing on your Weaknesses.

Have you ever heard of a “360?”

That’s when your co-workers and supervisors (and anyone else who wants to chip in) analyze your job performance. You learn all about your weaknesses – and you get a review outlining the ways you need to work on them. Often, people leave these “360” reviews in tears.

In the world of the solo-preneur, we don’t mess with our weaknesses. The motto is Strengthen your Strengths. Hire your Weaknesses. In other words, as you become aware of your weaknesses, you don’t waste your precious energy fixing them.

Reason #7

Many office environments don’t encourage creative thinking or positive energy. Instead, there’s lots of negativity among employees who feel powerless.

In your own business, you set the tone, and you choose who enters your environment. You become deeply personally responsible for every aspect of your life.

This is often more uncomfortable than sitting back and blaming “The Man,” but it will absolutely free you.

7 Reasons Not to Have a J.O.B./Part one.

1. Having a Job is Way too Risky!!!!!!!

When you have a J.O.B. (JUST OVER BROKE), someone can take away your income just by uttering two words: “You’re Fired.” This is happening more and more as companies crumble in the face of global changes in commerce. Those 2 words do not exist in your own business.

If you ask me, there’s nothing secure about that. Especially for older citizens who find it difficult or next to impossible to get hired due to age or health related problems that limit the type of work they can do.

When you enjoy your own business, and a client or customer moves on – then guess what? You get to say, “Next!”

2. No Bonus Pay for Messing Up

When you mess up at your job, you get punished, maybe even a pay-cut. Then you have to run around “making nice” to the people who might lay you off or promote someone else who’s younger and “hungry.” (Hungry for what? More time at the office?)

When one of my clients faces challenges in her business, I cheer. She’s getting paid to learn! Every mistake teaches her more about how to succeed.

Instead of getting an MBA – she’s getting a TBF. (Trial by Fire! :-) ) TBF’s can really pay-off!

On my own, but not alone, in my office, my own business

On my own, but not alone, in my office, my own business

3. Your Ceiling isn’t Adjustable.

Often, I think about how hard I worked in my other life….ahem…corporate jobs. I’ve always been the type to give more than I get….work more hours than I get paid for…take work home for goodness sakes. Bet you know what I’m talking about. But, no matter how much more I gave…or how expert I became….once I reached the top salary of that particular billet….I couldn’t make more.

When I talk to new clients now about the possibilities being endless in owning their own business, their eyes light up. They stop thinking in terms of “hours for dollars,” and start thinking of passive income. (Hey, why not get paid while you sleep?)

In a job, you can’t adjust your income based on the value you provide. Instead you have to ask for a raise. Not fun, doesn’t always work and if you don’t get the raise…it affects your self-esteem.

Give yourself a raise anytime you want ….on a daily basis….by simply being who you are and sharing with others.

A Life-Style lesson by an Expert: Tim Ferris

Tim Ferriss: 7 Great Principles for Dealing with Haters:

these are a video and some comments that I like to share with you today, as you’ll get here very valuable information, and that is giving me time to write the next surprise to you.

Tim Ferriss keynote The Next Web Conference 2010 – Love the Haters from Boris Veldhuijzen van Zanten on Vimeo.

11843466

1. It doesn’t matter how many people don’t get it. What matters is how many people do.

“It’s critical in social media, as in life, to have a clear objective and not to lose sight of that,” Ferriss says. He argues that if your objective is to do the greatest good for the greatest number of people or to change the world in some small way (be it through a product or service), you only need to pick your first 1,000 fans — and carefully. “As long as you’re accomplishing your objectives, that 1,000 will lead to a cascading effect,” Ferriss explains. “The 10 million that don’t get it don’t matter.”

2. 10% of people will find a way to take anything personally. Expect it.

“People are least productive in reactive mode,” Ferriss states, before explaining that if you are expecting resistance and attackers, you can choose your response in advance, as opposed to reacting inappropriately. This, Ferriss says, will only multiply the problem. “Online I see people committing ’social media suicide’ all the time by one of two ways. Firstly by responding to all criticism, meaning you’re never going to find time to complete important milestones of your own, and by responding to things that don’t warrant a response.” This, says Ferriss, lends more credibility by driving traffic.

3. “Trying to get everyone to like you is a sign of mediocrity.” (Colin Powell)

“If you treat everyone the same and respond to everyone by apologizing or agreeing, you’re not going to be recognizing the best performers, and you’re not going to be improving the worst performers,” Ferriss says. “That guarantees you’ll get more behavior you don’t want and less you do.” That doesn’t mean never respond, Ferriss goes on to say, but be “tactical and strategic” when you do.

4. “If you are really effective at what you do, 95% of the things said about you will be negative.” (Scott Boras)

“This principle goes hand-in-hand with number two,” Ferriss says. “I actually keep this quote in my wallet because it is a reminder that the best people in almost any field are almost always the people who get the most criticism.” The bigger your impact, explains Ferriss (whose book is a New York Times, WSJ and BusinessWeek bestseller), and the larger the ambition and scale of your project, the more negativity you’ll encounter. Ferriss jokes he has haters “in about 35 languages.”

5. “If you want to improve, be content to be thought foolish and stupid.” (Epictetus)

“Another way to phrase this is through a more recent quote from Elbert Hubbard,” Ferriss says. “‘To avoid criticism, do nothing, say nothing, and be nothing.” Ferriss, who holds a Guinness World Record for the most consecutive tango spins, says he has learned to enjoy criticism over the years. Ferriss, using Roman philosophy to expand on his point, says: “Cato, who Seneca believed to be the perfect stoic, practiced this by wearing darker robes than was customary and by wearing no tunic. He expected to be ridiculed and he was, he did this to train himself to only be ashamed of those things that are truly worth being ashamed of. To do anything remotely interesting you need to train yourself to be effective at dealing with, responding to, even enjoying criticism… In fact, I would take the quote a step further and encourage people to actively pursue being thought foolish and stupid.”

6. “Living well is the best revenge.” (George Herbert)

“The best way to counter-attack a hater is to make it blatantly obvious that their attack has had no impact on you,” Ferriss advises. “That, and [show] how much fun you’re having!” Ferriss goes on to say that the best revenge is letting haters continue to live with their own resentment and anger, which most of the time has nothing to do with you in particular. “If a vessel contains acid and you pour some on an object, it’s still the vessel that sustains the most damage,” Ferriss says. “Don’t get angry, don’t get even — focus on living well and that will eat at them more than anything you can do.”

7. Keep calm and carry on.

The slogan “Keep Calm and Carry On” was originally produced by the British government during the Second World War as a propaganda message to comfort people in the face of Nazi invasion. Ferriss takes the message and applies it to today’s world. “Focus on impact, not approval. If you believe you can change the world, which I hope you do, do what you believe is right and expect resistance and expect attackers,” Ferriss concludes. “Keep calm and carry on!”

Effective Twitter Secret Strategy Revealed.

When I started studying marketing online, I went through tons of information, and overwhelmed, etc…. We all know that. After quite some mistakes and $$$$ wasted ( expensive lessons, but still lessons…) I took some twitter courses, as I could see that Twitter is a Must-Work-With for online marketers.

Those first courses showed me how to use twitter, basically, and how to grow my list of followers fast.
I didn’t tell me what I discovered later, in a webinar with my marketing system company, which is THE information that we need to know and apply, to make TWITTER works for us,  as a FREE LEAD GENERATION  tool.
As long as we just do the basics, it’s just a regular fun Social Networking site, but not yet a tool used to generate traffic really.

Here is what we want to know and implement to make our twitter account effective, with appropriate strategy:

First, download Tweetdeck on your computer, which you’ll need to use for fasten your daily tasks. TweetDeck.com,and download Tweetlater – SocialOomph – which you’ll use to schedule your daily blocks of posts,
(free softwares) .

Then, the principle is this:
We need to send 5 to 10 posts at once, in the same lap of time, in order to be seen widely on a piece of page of twitter. You can see that this is the way people get noticed. If we send a post , separated from others by many people’s posts, we never get noticed neither read. If we can align 4 or 5 at least in a raw, it’s different visually , isn’t it? That’s what we look for: be noticed first.

Second, we want to post good, attractive, valuable, fun content, like a video picked from Youtube, an article from another site, a quote as usual, news that are amusing or surprising, and this content we get it from the places that I tell you below.

Third, we want to gather those different tweets to post,5 to 10 at once, on the Tweetlater software,  do program them for such a time in the day, and let it work on its own.
This way, you can choose to work on twitter each other day only, and schedule the automatic postings at the date and time that you choose (I tell you also what are the best time)

Fourth, we need the other free software downloaded : http://tinyurl.com in order to shorten the URLs that we want the followers to click on.

The tasks :

Gather daily contents, prepare a block of 4 to 8/10 posts on stickies, or a notepad on your desktop:
What to post :

one or 2 great quotes ( google “quotes” and find the sites that inspire you to copy from) or create your quote!

- 2 to 4 “news” on any subject, not all the time about marketing or networking. Look at in your followers what are different interests of them, and pick articles on those topics.
Where to pick articles, news, etc…..

I recommend those sites:
http://stufftotweet.com

http://alltop.com

This second site is more specific, speaking of pre-tested stuff, and it has quite some good tips about SEO.

- a tweetback from someone you know: pick an article from a site-group on Facebook, from a blog you you like and link with, use the software Tweetback.

- 1 to 3  videos that you pick on Youtube: go to the site, search for c category, and choose a chocking beautiful video, a motivational video music, or speach, or inspirational video, songs, presentation, etc…. be creative.

- pictures, to illustrate a short story, or just a great picture and promote his author.

- 1 to 2 articles, picked from e-zines articles or other publication sites, and link it to your blog.

- ONE promotional message, linked to your blog, or your primary business site.

ex: ” stop loosing money on …..and start earning daily , visit: tinyurl.com…..(your site, shortened url with the online software.

How to post:

* Post daily, at the best time to each the biggest audience:
EST  7.00 to 8.00 am
7.00 to 9.00 pm
1.00 to 2.00 pm

* Use SocialOomp ( former Tweetlater) , to gather your posts in blocks, and send the post all at once , in seconds, so that they are seen with your repeated picture on the page.

* Retweet some of your followers tweets, which you find of good interest, while you’re here

* and  answer to at least 5 direct messages daily.

When you have set those tasks into a routine, it should take 30 to 40 min a day maximum, to achieve, and this is FREE TARGETED LEADS GENERATION on line.
Does it sounds good to you?

If yes, you’ll be very happy to know where from I get this really valuable tips: I mainly pick them in my back office, of the site which you find here:

THE STORY OF MISS-MARKETING MISTAKES, in 12 steps, or how to burn yourself fast in marketing – part 3 -

Do it , believe it.

Do it , believe it.

Here are the last , but not least, 4 mistakes of the 12 that you, as a successful marketer, CANNOT afford to make in your business.

These 12 are as well exposed here for any owner of small or medium business.

Lets go right away and see Miss Marketing Mistakes, or MIMI, at work:

9- Because of her employee was bored fast with “routine” ,Mimi applied the principle of “New and Different” quite frequently.

That is the big 9th mistake that she made….! She changed her marketing strategy, her recent ad campaign, without even had heard of results and tracked long enough the efficiency of them.

You should never , never stop using anything that works, and is going on working for long. Even if your partners, employees , associates, are “bored” with it.

For profitable, smart successful marketing, you need to listen to only the persons who vote with dollars more than with ideas: your customers.

10- Mimi ignored the ” money is in the follow-up” .

She spend a great deal of time and money on attracting prospects to her business, then she followed up some just once, and some….never!

Good marketers know that they make the sale generally after the 7th or 8th contact with the prospect.

That is the conversion: getting leads is not enough, you need to get conversions, and so, do the follow up.

The prospects and leads have many different reason not to buy right after the first call, or contact :

they may have more important things in their mind, may not be ready for this kind of decision, not trust you enough yet, need to know you more, know your service/product better, may be in a process of comparing you with competition……

Persistence and repetition are vital for your success, and repeated follow up give you advantage over your competitors: most of them will make Mimi’s mistake, and only a few will do the follow up more than once.

Your prospects can be ready to buy in one week or 10 weeks from today, and you’ll have the best chance to make the sale as you are uppermost in their minds, which can be obtained by only persistent following up.

11- Another believe that Mimi “bought” from traditional business owners: word by mouth referrals come automatically.

Just take this one out of your mind, as yes , word of mouth referrals are extremely important, and NO they do not magically appear. Period.

You can get a few referrals, just because your products/services are really exceptional or great, but abundance and really profitable referrals requires efforts and initiative.

12- The most costly mistake of all: Mimi based her marketing on guesses, assumptions, and advices.

She listened to friends, relatives, employees of her, and doing so, she took the best guarantee for no or little results from her marketing.

It’s as if she was trying to guess the exact sequence of numbers needed to open a combination lock : it’s a process where each consecutive step is linked to the previous one, and one wrong guess compromises all the chances to succeed.

Mimi believe at that point, that marketing was more of an ART, than a SCIENCE. This means that for her, all opinions where ever they come from, about marketing, are equally valid.

This philosophy makes that most of believes about marketing are based on myths, not on facts.

Marketing is in reality a Science, with specific rules, principles, and quantifiable results.

That is very important: know all the criteria, the experience , the skills that has been developed by already successful marketers.

If you ask 10 people to select from two ads the one they think is the best, 9 out of them will point at the profit looser rather than the profit winner. Why? Because they do not know and recognize the marketing principles and strategies that make a powerful marketing piece a winner.

They have their opinion based on subjective and vague criteria like ” fun”appeal, artistic look, different, cute, clever…..

Which has rarely anything to do with generating big response. Instead it has everything to do with wasting your marketing time and money and destroying your potential sales.

So now, Mimi learned the “great dozen” ,and she know pretty well this 12th lesson:

Always base your marketing on measurable results from objectives tests.

Good to know what not to do, I believe it’s very important to learn from other’s mistakes.

A Shocking Demo of Why You Want to Brand YOU.Inc

The Blue Sunset Yesturday

The Blue Sunset Yesterday

A few hours ago, thousands of independent associates of the iLearning Global company received the shocking e-mail of the day , which announced the closing of the marketing network part, in favor of their retail mode.

I am one of those marketers for iLG. shocked and unable to believe it at first reading of that e-mail. I’ve been only 4 months with this company, and a genius as my up-line, David Wood, and I imagine how huge can be the shock for him too: he built the best top earners team of iLG in less than 6 months, moved 1000s of dollars in that company, helped 100s of people to make money and grow their business, and one of a sudden, in a few words the company says to him, thank you for your so great work, we don’t need you anymore, bam.

In 30 minutes, this guy came from a shocking news that has the potential of destroying big part of his life, to a continuing of his leadership, his company, his people gathered around him to start over with an other product! That what winners do. Make decision fast, and implement fast. He choose immediately to not complain, not blame anyone nor anything, not to cry on himself, but to go forward and continue!

How could he do that? He followed the rule of success in marketing: brand yourself. He was not dependent of a one company , and still is not, and will very probably never be. He created his own business.inc, and multiple streams of income.

I’m glad I followed Dave, and did what he did, and being able today to continue, like he does, and I do it with him. ILG was his primary business-opportunity, it was mine as well, but it’s only a product, like many others good ,excellent products. It was not his, nor my business. Who do we continue with?

Numis.

Numis is my new product and my primary business-opportunity from today. And I choose as well to act fast, and to continue, to keep my people with the teams that I build able to continue with me , as I continue with David. Remember, people do business with people. Not with things. So we are looking for many others leaders like us, who have or want to create their own business, grow it, and grow themselves as the same time! This team is uplifting for your all life. Don’t believe us, TRY us:

THE STORY OF MISS-MARKETING MISTAKES, in 12 steps, or how to burn yourself fast in marketing – part two -

If you want to be part of the 5% top-earners in the marketing industry, you must read the 12 mistakes that would cost you the loss of this status.
You need to have a good marketing plan , and use in this plan the most effective strategies possible……AND avoid the most costly ones, the money-wasting ineffective strategies. But also, to avoid anything, you must know it. So here is the story of Miss-Marketing-Mistake , or Mimi in 12 steps : steps 5 to 8

5 – Mimi used the old “one-Step” marketing strategy. Big waste of money!

Mimi use the most common strategy that in fact today small business owners use.
She used different classical media-support, like brochures or flyers, cards, or others, where she simply announced her business name, show a small list of basic features that she promotes, and mentioned her address and phone number.

With that type of marketing pieces, she expected the prospect to be responsive by immediately come to her shop and buy her product and service.
This kind of strategy completely forgets the psychology of the buyer, in the buying process. This one step is skipping all others steps. and drive to little to no response.

Mimi took the tree for the forest: she thought her product would be perceived as an exceptional high demand one ( a $4000 value for $500, or a Rolling-stones last concert ticket…) . But it was not, and she went into studying that “psychological buying sequence of consumers”.

6- the “copy’n paste” the competition’s mistakes.

Mimi deduced from the “this is what every is doing” that it must be “this is the right thing to do” . The mistake number 5 can be a very good demo for this:
look at the ads and promotion that small local business publish in newspapers, and /or magazines : you’ll see they all very similar, basic messaging, basic strategy, and basic small or no results.

We all tend to do this, as we feel safe doing what everyone is doing, assuming that what works for others will work equally for us.
We do not look at the big picture, how the success is build in some one’s business: it comes always from several different elements in a marketing strategy: the location, the targeted niche, the small or no competition, the personality the originality……

We rarely take in consideration all the strategic elements when “copying” our competitors, and we miss the pieces that , put all together, can give efficiency to the completed recipe.

Mimi understood her that she’d better start branding herself, be unique and original, and follow the update rules of marketing rather than her competitors “experience”.

7- Mimi did NOT tell her prospects what to do!

What was she thinking? She was “assuming”! Never do that! Assume that the prospect will know what to do when he has read the ad…. what a costly, not result guaranteed mistake!
Once again, when you look at your competitors most ads, you see generally just the address and phone number at the bottom. When you ask the business owner :
” What do you want the prospect to do , after he read your ad?’
The answer is often:
” but come and buy my product! it’s obvious!”
No, it is NOT.
There are 2 reasons to that:
One is the typical marketing piece contains rarely information that makes the consumer to immediately decide to buy,
and two is the competition for the same product or service is all around, and the prospect is not making a decision to buy, based on one single ad.

If you want to be sure that the prospect will respond to your marketing piece, and take specific action that you want, simply TELL them what to do! You as a business owner must know what that action should be.
To know this, as we say in mistake 6, study your customer psychological buying sequence.

8 – Mimi used the basic ” for more info…call…”

That mistake is closely related to the mistake number 7. We have a marketing piece that announces the business name, list a few features offered , ends with an address and phone number, and with the small invite “Call for more information”.

Doesn’t this sound like you are dumb somewhere, not understanding enough about what is said on the ad? What information should you ask for? Why do you have to call, does it mean this company has no brochure or other literature to describe the product?….
That is the last thing that the prospect want to wonder about.

Also, this “call to call” makes the prospects feel pressured, he can expect to get an heavy sales-pitch when he calls, and he surely will avoid this pain….

Instead of this marketing mistake, brainstorm and be creative with some exiting promise, for taking the action that you say.

For instance, as you are at the end of this part 2 of the story, I can strongly suggest now that your action be to put your name and e-mail address into the form on the left here, and get NOW a free big value content marketing video!

THE STORY OF MISS-MARKETING-MISTAKES, in 12 steps, or how to burn yourself fast in marketing – part one.

When you’ve finished reading that story, you’ll be aware of the biggest and easiest traps that make marketers fail and be stopped from becoming the 5 % of successful top earners in the industry!
You ll feel so confident , knowing this, that you’ll attract like a magnet all the best people, business, anything, in your life! I’m serious, read this, remember it, and win….or stay broke and miserable.

To make it easier, I called Miss Marketing Mistake MIMI:

1- Mimi focused on her, but forgot to focus on her customers first:

Mimi learned the good principle of branding herself, not anyone else’s company, so she focused on the recommended “you.Inc”
Which is good, to tell your prospects about you, and your company. So she thought about be impressive to the customers, show them she is a great pro, she has years of experience, she offers great products, etc….
And Mister and Missis Prospect just put a shy eye on her display, and said:
” so what?”
” who cares?”
Yes, she realized that giving information with a background and specification about her products and services , although useful, was not the “primary” message she should have delivered. It misses Supportive Information.
What prospects “care about”!
Her mistake # 1 was:
Assuming that people care about the same things that you do.

They most of the time care about something completely different. The secret is for you to know what that is, and then address it very clearly in your marketing message.

2- Mimi spreads out her marketing in all directions:

She forgot to study her “niche” , to be accurate on who she should market to. So all her efforts and expenses did have zero return, she stayed ignored, as she did not aim at anyone.
This step, determining who are your best prospects, how to reach them effectively, is an essential fundamental step in a successful marketing strategy.
What did Mimi was she presented her generic message to a greatest number of people, thinking she would get a highest number of sale.
But marketing doesn’t work that way….In fact, and she couldn’t believe this before, not everyone wants or need your product or service, and not everyone would watch your message at a given time.
Mimi lost this way all her first marketing dollars, on people who have very little or no interest in her products and services.
That was her mistake # 2 :
Not targeting her marketing to her very best “niche” her best and logical prospects.

3- Mimi wasted her marketing budget in “image”

Knowing that your image and name recognition are important to the attraction marketing effect, she decided to pour her dollars into smart and humorous nice marketing pieces.
But she forgot 2 things:
One, her company is starting , and she cannot afford the same kind of strategy as giant corporations who spend millions for a “specific” image and name.
And 2, in this case, it’s much more important to focus on immediate and growing sales, as image cannot do any good at this point, if there is no “call to action” in her marketing.
Each piece of marketing for small business, especially starting, has to ask for immediate and specific action.
Costly mistake #3:
Pour your marketing $$$ into image and name, and forget to ask for Action.

4- Mimi thinks word-of-mouth works automatically.

Good to know that word-of-mouth referrals are an extremely important element of any business’s marketing success, but many like Mimi do the mistake by waiting for referrals to magically appear.
Mimi did get referrals this way indeed, but very few, and with a very poor part of her real market.
Was she dreaming that people spontaneously recommend a product or a service to their friends, without even them asking for it? That can happen rarely, and if your service or product shows extremely unique rare qualities, for an existing market.
But main of the time the rule is ” ask and it is given” .
Mimi needed to act on asking for referrals.
She would have seen that they are the best buying prospects that she can get.
Its a very costly mistake.
#4 : wait for referrals to appear like magic, not asking.

Before we go on the next mistakes, in the next part, here is an other “story” which I like to tell , to meditate on:
A simple and quite religious retailer would make a prayer to God each day before going to bed:
” dear God, please, allow a poor sinner that I am to win the lottery this week”
After a year of daily prayers, and never win, the retailer says to God:
” God, how can I still believe in prayers? I’ve been praying you for 52 weeks, not miss a day, for you make me win the lottery, and I never won…”
And God answers: ” you can believe my son, you can, I’m listening to you. I’ve been listening every day. But YOU don’t listen: I told you to buy a ticket and I’ll make you win….”
